Umrah:

Muslims who are going to Makkah for performing Umrah are required to enter in the sacred state of Ihram. Muslims can wear Ihram at the station of Meeqaat or if they are coming from other countries they can make intention of Ihram and wear it from home. Muslims perform Tawaf or circumambulation of the Holy Kaaba seven times. After performing Tawaaf Muslims moves towards two sacred hills Safa and Marwa and perform Saaee seven times. Muslim also drink blessed water of zamzam from Zamzam well. In the last step of Umrah Muslim shave off and trim their hairs (male pilgrims shave off their head hairs and female pilgrims trim an inch of their head hairs from bottom) and then pilgrims take off their Ihram and there Umrah is done.

Meeqat stations:

If Muslims are willing to perform Umrah again then they needs to go at the station of meeqat and then make intention of wearing Ihram. The Meeqats are the known and sacred prescribed locations for those Muslims intending to perform Umrah. When a Muslim enters in the sacred state of Ihram, they have to follow the all the prohibitions.
 

Those Muslims coming from outside the blessed city Makkah have to put the ihraam from their respective meeqaat and locals whether they are citizens of Makkah or they may be temporarily in Makkah must enter in the sacred state of Ihram from their nearby meeqat stations or before starting that region.
 

For Muslims who live outside the boundaries of Haram or from any other country then their meeqaat is their area of house. Muslims can wear the ihraam from their home locations.

Ihram:

The ihraam is a spiritual state of clothing for Muslims.
